SpiceJet shares went up by 4% today as the Delhi High Court Division Bench rejected a damages claim worth ₹₹1,300 crore.
The airline told the stock exchanges that the Delhi High Court Division Bench has rejected the damage claim, appealed by KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran.
As per an exchange filing, “Division Bench of Delhi High Court in its order dated May 23, 2025, has dismissed the appeal filed by KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran seeking damages of more than ₹1300 crore and other claims. These assertions were already previously rejected by the Arbitral Tribunal and then the Delhi High Court.”
Notably, KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran sought damages to the tune of ₹1300 crore during arbitration proceedings. According to SpiceJet, the claims were thoroughly examined and subsequently rejected by a panel of three retired Supreme Court judges. Following these developments, KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran approached the single-judge bench of the Delhi High Court for seeking the same amount in damages.
Share price
The shares of SpiceJet opened at ₹44.10 on the BSE today, compared to previous closing price of ₹43.83. The further rose by 4.45% to ₹45.78 apiece.
